New riverside trail planned for the City of Smyrna

In Smyrna GA, big plans are being made to transform land along the Chattahoochee into a public amenity. In the past, this portion of land was used for industrial purposes but as industry moved away from the riverbanks new opportunities have moved in. The Trust for Public Land, a non-profit with a vision for preserving natural resources, has called together a team to help design a trail that will follow the path of the Chattahoochee River. The section over half a mile long has already been partially transformed to provide public amenities including an outdoor amphitheater, boat and kayak launch and river overlook. This section that is planned to constitute the trailhead for the park and trail begins at a mixed use development called The Eddy. Besides providing homes to hundreds of Smyrna residents, this community space is home to a local brewery and barbeque restaurant that both overlook the waters of the Chattahoochee. Stay tuned!
